Updating Emirates ID details online
Certain updates, such as changes to your mobile number, email address, or residential address, can be completed through the ICP Smart Services portal.
Follow these steps to update your details online:
- Visit the ICP Smart Services Portal: Access the official website.
- Select ‘Public Services’: Navigate to the ‘Personal Information - Update Personal Information’ section and click ‘Start Services’.
- Enter Your Details: Provide your nationality, passport number, full name, and date of birth.
- Enter Your File Number: This number, found on your UAE residence visa, includes sections such as department, year, service, and sequence.
- Provide Your Emirates ID Number: This is located on the front of your Emirates ID card.
- Enter Your Updated Contact Information: Input your new mobile number and email. A one-time password (OTP) will be sent for verification.
- Update Your Address (if required)
- Verify and Complete Payment: Complete the captcha verification, review your details, and proceed to payment.

Updating Emirates ID details in-person
For certain updates, such as changing your surname (e.g., after marriage), modifying your occupation, or updating your Emirates ID photograph, you must visit an ICP customer happiness centre in person. These changes require the issuance of a new Emirates ID card.
Steps for in-person updates:
- Visit the nearest ICP customer happiness centre.
- Provide your current Emirates ID and supporting documents (e.g., marriage certificate for surname change, job contract for occupation update).
- Fill out the required update request form.
- Complete biometric verification if required.
- Make the necessary payment for reissuing the Emirates ID.
Changing your registered mobile number
If you need to update the mobile number linked to your Emirates ID, the process differs slightly depending on whether you have an existing ICP account.
For Emirates ID holders without an ICP account:
- Visit smartservices.icp.gov.ae.
- Select ‘Public Services’ and choose ‘Update Personal Information’.
- Provide details such as nationality, passport number, Emirates ID number, and last entry date.
- Enter your new mobile number and verify it using the OTP.
- Complete the captcha verification and proceed to payment.
- Once payment is confirmed, the system updates your mobile number.
For ICP Account Holders:
- Log in using UAE Pass or ICP credentials.
- Select the issuing General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) department.
- Under ‘Other Services’, choose ‘Update Personal Information’.
- Select ‘Edit Mobile Number’, enter the new number, and verify it via OTP.
- Review the application and proceed with payment.
